at work today i was discussing a HIV+ patient with a colleague...

halfway through the conversation she looked at me and asked "does he look gay?"
i said "no..", and asked "why??".
she replied "because he has AIDS".

i was truely gobsmacked.

i could not believe that in this day and age, a nurse (or anyone for that fact) would still assume that HIV/AIDS is a queer-only disease.



i wanted to slap her.

but then realised that i'd be a hypocrite to condemn her for her ignorance.
