i took pog outside before..and we sat on the front porch so that i could show him mars..
he really didn't have any interest in the fact that for this entire month, we would be lucky enough to see the red planet with our naked eye..in fact, he was just happy that he was sitting outside in the cold with his aunt..
i was hoping to perk him up and get his curiosity peaking..but it didn't happen..he truely had no interest in the lil red star that wappeared to be hovering right above our doorstep...so i told him to be sure he always remembered that aunty dannii showed him mars - and that it will never again in our lifetime be visible with the nekkid eye...heh..he's so cute..
anywho..

it seems that it's all going to culminate on August 27th when mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of earth, and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky.

the grrl loves all those sci-fi shows (star trek, stargate, starsearch..haha) and i always think it's pretty cool how some alien civilisations get to see 2 or more planets in their night sky..now..next week, we will be seeing 2. no i'm not a geek, but i figure something that happens once every few millenia is pretty fuckin awsome..not only that, but they say on the night that mars will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide - and at a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye..
cool, eh??

anyway...back to my assignment (which, i might add..is coming along nicely..heh)
